Diplomacy Digest 4

From Washington to Tehran: The Insights of a World in Transition

Dear Readers,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the fourth edition of Diplomacy Digest, BOSDIC’s newsletter dedicated to keeping you informed, semester after semester, on the most significant developments shaping the global geopolitical landscape.

In this edition, we delve into a range of critical issues currently influencing the world stage. We begin with an analysis of the U.S. elections, exploring the perspectives and visions of two prominent figures: Elon Musk and Kamala Harris. What might their views mean for the future of the United States, and how could they impact the country's role on the international stage?

Next, we turn our focus to Taiwan, examining the potential consequences of Donald Trump’s re-election on the region. As tensions grow in the Indo-Pacific, what shifts might this bring, and what risks lie ahead?

Moving to the Middle East, we take a closer look at Iran’s evolving nuclear stance, and the consequences of this matter between obstacles and a global opportunities. We also discuss recent developments in Israel and their implications for neighbouring countries as well as for international relations.

Finally, we address Europe’s position in an increasingly fragmented world, topic discussed in the annual event organised by the Institute for European Policy making (IEP) at Bocconi. Last but not least, we discuss how, in an era of deepening polarization, propaganda often casts the world into two opposing blocks: democracies and autocracies.

We hope the insights and reflections shared in this edition will help you gain a clearer understanding of the complex dynamics of international affairs. Wishing you an engaging and enlightening read into the world of diplomacy.

Enjoy the reading!
